How to play

Hold your iPhone sideways. On Home, pick your club and your opponent with the arrows or tap a crest to browse every club and national team. Choose a difficulty, a match length (3, 5 or 10 minutes) and 7-a-side or 11-a-side, then tap Quick match.

Move with the joystick in the bottom-left corner.
Sprint with the big corner button. Sprinting tires players; tired players are slower.
Pass to the teammate you aim at. Hold Pass for a long, lofted ball.
Through plays the ball into space ahead of a runner.
Shoot: tap for a quick shot, hold for more power.

When the other side has the ball, the same buttons become Press, Switch and Tackle. Your kickoffs, throw-ins and other restarts wait for you to tap Pass.

Rules

Both formats use offside, corners, throw-ins, goal kicks and free kicks. 7-a-side has rolling substitutions; 11-a-side allows five substitutes.

Substitutions and tactics

Pause the match with the button in the top-right corner. From there you can make substitutions, change formation and approach, or go back to Home. A match you leave is saved, so you can resume it from Home.

Settings

Left-handed controls move the joystick to the right and the buttons to the left.
Camera: Wide follows the ball, Teammates keeps a teammate ahead of and behind you in view, and Whole pitch shows the entire ground.
Sound, haptics and drums can each be turned off or changed.
Share usage data under Privacy turns anonymous analytics off.

Playing a friend

Play a friend uses Apple's Game Center. Sign in to Game Center in the iPhone Settings app, then invite a friend. You can play against each other, or together on the same side against the computer.

Career ratings

Finished matches against the computer and against friends update separate career ratings for 7-a-side and 11-a-side. Ratings stay on your iPhone.
